Figure 16: Paleofacies of the Late Cretaceous to Early Paleocene spanning deposition of the Shiranish, Gurpi, Aruma, Simsima, and Fiqa formations, and their regional equivalents [MFS K150 to intra-Pg10]. The sediments were deposited within a compressive foreland basin setting following onset of mid-Turonian ophiolite obduction along the eastern margin of the Plate.
