Four explosive changes in petroleum exploration have occurred: oil seeps, anticlinal theory, seismic and offshore drilling. My personal experience learning how to explore for uranium and petroleum was built on these changes.
Twenty-five years ago, I published the Resource Triangle to describe the distribution of all resources from a small amount of high grade material to a very large amount of the lowest graded. The onshore U.S. has available very large reserves of low reservoir quality gas. Huge fields have already been found.
Now that we have used up all our large and medium sized structural targets onshore the next major explosion in U.S. exploration must be for the low grade reservoirs in Basin Center gas fields.
