Abstract

Time Domain Electromagnetic (TDEM) method has been used to map the groundwater aquifer in Qarn Alam located in North Oman in order to be used steam injection.

Qarn Alam oil field is characterized by highly viscous hydrocarbon with very low permeability, so steam injection has been used to extract and enhance the recovery of the oil.. Therefore, it is important to locate water aquifer and identify its salinity. in order to optimize water wells drilling Time Domain Electromagnetic (TDEM) is geophysical method used to map and characterize subsurface litho logy including locating fresh and saline water. Salinity is key for withdrawing water as well as disposal of the used one.
