Summary

This paper presents a detailed description and interpretation of the stratigraphy, sandbody geometry and major reservoir heterogeneities of oil-prolific, Upper Albian reservoirs from offshore Brazil. They comprise a very complex turbidite succession, which resulted from the amalgamation of twelve 2-20 m-thick, 6->20 km-wide, lobate sandbodies composed of poorly-sorted and heterogeneously-(calcite) cemented, fine- to very fine-grained sandstones (turbidites), and frequently interbedded finer-grained, non-reservoir facies (debris flows and hemipelagic sediments).
