Abstract: Electric Utilities Need for Fuel-Reserve Information
Richard A. Schmidt
Capital-intensive fuel-consuming facilities such as plants for generating electric power require an assured supply of fuels with steady quality over operating lifetimes of as much as a half-century. It is simple to calculate fuel quantities for consumption in present and projected power plants, but this procedure is incomplete. A thorough analysis of fuel supplies (for any use) must include consideration of the fact that the fuels consumed represent the final stage in a complex cycle.
