The deep water basins of the Mexican sector Gulf of Mexico has been intensively investigated over the past 12 years. The investigations include variety of studies ranging from gravity and magnetics, 3D seismic analysis, ocean floor probing, regional basin studies, 3D control sourced electromagnetics (CSEM) investigations. These efforts have enhanced the understanding of the Previous HitstructuralNext Hit and sedimentary evolution deep water of the Gulf of Mexico.

This work presents results obtained from the detailed Previous HitinterpretationNext Hit and integration of 3D seismic and 3D CSEM of a deep water prospect. The Previous HitinterpretationNext Hit and integration of these geophysical datasets allowed for the delineation of a three-dimensional tectono-stratigrpahic framework and hydrocarbon prediction. The detailed 3D seismic analysis allowed the illumination of seismic geomorphologies which enhanced the understanding of the tectono-Previous HitstratigraphicNext Hit evolution of a deep water mid to lower slope setting. The seismic analysis is based on seismic attributes and spectral decomposition visualized through RGB blending. These results provided high quality geomorphologies which enhanced the understanding of the relationship between Previous HitstructuralNext Hit deformation and sedimentary fairway migration through time, and hence the three-dimensional mapping of sand prone facies.

The analysis of 3D CSEM data provided a three-dimensional distribution of resistivity, the integrated Previous HitinterpretationNext Hit of the resistivity and the seismic analysis revealed strong evidence of hydrocarbon bearing reservoirs. This work illustrates the method and workflow employed. Drilling results confirmed the predictions derived from the Previous HitinterpretationTop and integration of 3D seismic and 3D CSEM data.
