An impedance model was constructed for reservoir characterisation of a mature field in the Malay basin. The impedance model was built by merging the results of an inversion of a Previous Hit3DNext Hit seismic volume with a geological model derived from the extrapolation of well log Previous HitdataNext Hit. The modelling required the integration of seismic Previous HitdataNext Hit in the time domain with well log Previous HitdataNext Hit measured in depth. A major obstacle that was overcome was the lack of checkshot Previous HitdataNext Hit in most wells for depth to time conversion or sonic Previous HitdataNext Hit for Previous HitsyntheticNext Hit modelling required to tie the wells to seismic.

The solution was to carry out the Previous HitdataNext Hit integration within a common framework. The framework used was a sequence stratigraphic model that was derived from and common to the input Previous HitdataNext Hit. The sequence stratigraphic model evolved as more Previous HitdataNext Hit were integrated and was continually checked against the input Previous HitdataNext Hit. The sequence stratigraphic model was used to constrain the conditioning of the well log Previous HitdataNext Hit including the generation of Previous HitsyntheticNext Hit sonic Previous HitdataNext Hit. The sequence stratigraphic model guided the Previous HitdataNext Hit integration process and eventually provided a tool for the interpretation of the final impedance model and the prediction of lithology distribution.

The results of this integrated approach were interpretation of horizons not obvious on seismic Previous HitdataNext Hit alone and imaging of the Previous Hit3DTop geometry and continuity of reservoir bodies and fluid contacts within them.
