Summary

A reservoir characterization study of the lower Grayburg and upper San Andres reservoir is provided as a case history that integrates petrophysical and Previous HitseismicNext Hit Previous HitattributeNext Hit analyses for Previous HitseismicNext Hit guided mapping of effective porosity. The project was conducted using a network of state-of-the-art geological, geophysical, and engineering analysis software running on high performance UNIX computer workstations. GeoQuest's IESX Previous HitSeismicNext Hit Interpretation System (IESX) was used to evaluate a nine square mile area of 3-D Previous HitseismicNext Hit data. A petrophysical analysis utilizing Terrasciences TS2 software was conducted using modem log suites from approximately thirty well locations. Specific pore types were defined within the reservoir interval based on pore connectivity and lithology. The petrophysical results were loaded into GeoQuest's Reservoir Modeling (RM) software for integration of results with imported Previous HitseismicNext Hit Previous HitattributeNext Hit volumes generated in IESX to produce Previous HitseismicTop guided reservoir maps. Later these maps are available to export reservoir properties to populate a reservoir simulation grid.
