Data from cores, dipmeters, outcrop, paleoclimatic studies, and empirical relationships were used to develop a quantitative depositional model superior to that achievable from traditional interwell correlation and interpolation. Typical cross-set geometries were modeled (with software developed by David Rubin at U.S.G.S.) and subsequently infilled with appropriate stratification Previous HittypesNext Hit (based on theoretical calculations of seasonal airflow across these dunes). The result is a quantifiable model of the spatial arrangement of stratification and truncation bounding surfaces that control critical permeability patterns. Utility of this 3-D model is as a source for statistical correlation parameters of stratification Previous HittypesNext Hit.

Realizations of 3-D permeability distributions were constructed using sequential indicator simulation. The three step process included simulating a distribution of stratification Previous HittypesNext Hit, simulating stratification dependent permeability distributions, and then merging these results to produce a final permeability field. Petrophysical data and stratification Previous HittypesNext Hit determined from Previous HitwellNext Hit logs provided conditioning data, as Previous HitwellTop as checks on geologic model parameters.

Reservoir flow simulation was used to compare to historical performance and guided the necessary modifications of the geological model.
