Abstract: Minicomputers for Maxianalysis

In the past few years the computer has developed as one of the most powerful tools for the log analyst. However, use of the more sophisticated analyses for field decision-making has been limited. The logistics of getting logs from the well to the computer and results back to the field can be formidable, especially in international operations. Competition with other users can increase turnaround through a large computer complex to an unacceptable level. Another problem has been integrating the expertise of an experienced log analyst into the computer program.

A total log analysis system, incorporating a minicomputer, was designed to solve these problems. It is economical, powerful enough to do sophisticated analyses, has interactive capability, is flexible and simple to operate, and easily will accommodate future developments.
